Jill Manthorpe is Professor of Social Work and Director of the Social Care Workforce Research Unit at King’s College London, a Department of Health Policy Research Unit. She has undertaken several studies of dementia care policy practice including research on the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its interface with adult safeguarding.
Other recent publications cover the areas of ethnicity and housing for people with dementia; support for carers; self-directed support and safeguarding; serious case reviews into dementia care, and end of life care for people with dementia. Jill is currently undertaking the first study of dementia and homelessness. She is a Senior Investigator of the NIHR and undertakes advisory work for the Alzheimer’s Society and other professional bodies. Jill is visiting professor at Ulster University and at the University of Melbourne.
