Graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine, Charles University in Prague. postgraduate professional education in General Practice, Public Health and Geriatrics, PhD in Social Gerontology, Associated Professor in Social Anthropology
1992– now: Director and Consultant Geriatrician, Gerontologické centrum (Centre of Gerontology)
1997 – now Co-founding memberand Chairperson (since 2003) of the Czech Alzheimer Society
2000 – 2001 Member of the Advisory Board on Ageing for the 1st Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social
2007-/2008 member of the Group on Palliative Care (Alzheimer Europe), since 2008 Board member of Alzheimer Europe, since 2010 Vice-president.
2007–2011 President of the Czech Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics
2007–2011 Committee member of IAGG (on behalf of the CGGS)
Co-editor of the quarterly on geriatric medicine Česká geriatrická revue.
2005– now: member of the Government Committee on Ageing
2008 –now: president of the ILC-CZ
2010-now: founding head of CELLO UK FHS (Centre of Expertise in Longevity and Long-term Care)

Teaching activity:
2009 – present: Associate Professor with the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University in Prague

Awards:
2008 Makropulos, award of the Ministry of Health, Centre of Gerontology, awarded for a model project of a day care unit for persons with dementia
I2004 Award for the Outstanding Contribution to Czech Gerontology (award in the clinical category) – DTO Ostrava.
1998 Honorary Membership in Slovak Society of Geriatrics

Scientific activity:
The main convener of the Prague Days of Gerontology (since 1996), the main congress on gerontology in Czech Republic with cca 300 participants (nurses, physicians, social workers, seniors, educators etc.)
In 2004 the main convener of the 14th Annual European Congress of Alzheimer Europe (From Understanding to Solutions)

Publications on: health and social care interface, dementia, depression, family caregivers issues, dance and movement therapy, ethics in geriatric care etc.
